I never seem to have sympathy cards on hand - maybe because they really aren't the kind of cards you want to think about making. However, right now I need a couple. I kept it simple as that just seems to me the way sympathy cards need to be. You want to give the recipient some sort of peace and one that is too busy doesn't seem to cut it.
So here is the first one I made.
I used a label from nestabilities to cut out the shape and then sprayed it with blue walnut ink over that I stamped the rose image from Penny Black. There is some star dust stickles on the rose as well. The strips down the side are washi tape. The white background is embossed with an embossing folder. The flower is from prima flowers with a silver brad through the two layers. I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday.
Here is the next card:
Instead of blue walnut ink spray I used lilac walnut ink spray. I was surprised when I say the star dust stickles on the rose turned pink when it dried. Not sure it is a bad thing just unexpected. There are three gold nail head stickers on the top. The dp is from Basic Grey.
The words are from an old Angel Company stamp set.

I am the same way in that I feel sympathy cards should be simple. Probably bc i want the focus to be on the thought. These are perfect.
I'm with you about sympathy cards - I think the simplicity implies "peace". Love both of your cards. Thanks for playing along with us at Sketch Saturday this week. Hugs, Cathy xx
These are two lovely sympathy cards. I never seem to have any to hand either and I love how you have used this inky rose in the pretty frames. Thank you for playing along with us at Sketch Saturday this week. Hugs, Lesley
