Prima Girl

I have seen these mixed media stamps by julie nutting/prima and liked them and finally saw one at my local stamp store and couldn't resist.

I don't know if I will get any more as they are quite tall but they are fun. The card was made from an 8 1/2" square piece of paper folded in half. This one is colored with copics. The dress is paper pieced. The sash is colored with copics and the dress is highlighted with copics. The underskirt is colored with a white pen and she is outlined with the pen. The fancy edge is done with a fiskars border punch. The swirls and flower at the bottom are the punches from the edging. The dotted dp is from bobunny. Organza ribbon is tied around the one edge with a bow and then buttons are adhered with soowang tape.

Jan's Tray

A few months ago a member of our church died suddenly. Jan was well loved and in charge of many things at church. One thing she did was to head up the social committee. She kept a well stocked cupboard of many of the supplies that were needed to host luncheons and such at the church. I was asked to make something to indicate that it was Jan's cupboard in memory of her. This is what I came up with.

I have had this tray for probably 30 years. I got it to put a cross stitch picture in but never got to it. So now it finally has a purpose. It really is a wonder that I saved it when I moved. It will now hang on the door of the cupboard.

Here is a picture of the scene before it was put under glass.

The words were done in Word Art in Microsoft Word. The letters are colored with R29, R27, and R24 copics. The butterflies and swirls are made with memory box die cuts. The swirls had parts cut off to make them fit in this space. The gold paper was on clearance at JoAnn's. The roses were stamped using a Penny Black stamp. The stamp was colored with Zig Memory Brushables markers. The markers have two colors on each marker. The leaves were done with the two colors of green but the roses were done just in the dark red. Jan loved red and white roses. Here is a close-up of the roses.

A sheet of scor-tape was adhered to white card stock and then Elizabeth's Silk Microfine Warm Diamond Glitter was burnished over top. Then the stamp was stamped on top of the glitter paper. I cut out the four roses and mounted them on the plain card stock. The damask dp is by Bazzill Basics and the dotted dp is from BoBunny. I had bought some ribbon to make a bow for this project. When I went to grab it I found I had some ribbon just like it with the bow already made. I really think God already knew what this project was going to be long before I started it.

When I went to start this project I was going to use a rose bud stamp I already had but it was too brittle to make a good image anymore. Wonder why some stamps get like that. Anyway I went to my local stamp store to buy a new stamp expecting to spend $10-$12 and came out with almost $40 of supplies for this project. lol.

I am glad Jan is with the Lord now but she is certainly missed by those of us left behind.

Thinking of Tilda

Tilda is sitting pretty on a tag/sticker from a Basic Grey collection. Ribbon is laced through the tag with paper flowers on each side. There are brads for centers of the flowers and some pink glitter glue applied to the flowers. Tilda is colored with copic markers. The lace on the bottom of the dress has frosted lace stickles on it. The blue isn't really quite that bright IRL. The white paper is scored at about inch intervals with squares of Basic Grey paper in 4 of the resulting squares. The butterfly is done with a McGill punch and has star dust stickles on it. The words are from an old angel company stamp set.

Violets

I love violets. I have since college days when I was an Alpha Delta Pi. Today is Founder's Day so this card is with that in mind.

This house mouse stamp was colored with prisma colored pencils. The blue outline was blended with odorless mineral spirits. The one violet is popped. The bow is done with two buttons tied around the ribbon. The three dots are nailhead stickers. The dp is two nestabilities labels cut in half then rearranged around the card.

Framed Tilda

Tilda is always cute enough to frame - so I did. The flowers Tilda is holding reminded me of the spring flowers I am seeing outside.

Tilda is colored with copics with frosted lace stickles on her dress and crystal stickles on the flowers. The frame is cut from Palace Oval Frame by Memory Box. It is cut out of a piece of cardboard in a fancy feast cat food box. :) Waste not want not! Then it was sprayed with a walnut ink with a gold mica or something like that added. I made the mixture years ago and can't quite remember what I did. The flowers are from Prima flowers with a pink candy dot in the middle. The dp's and ribbon are some I have had sitting around. The butterflies are punched with a Martha Stewart punch which now seems to be ruined. I can't get the butterflies out now. I really don't like punches - they seem to wear out way too soon for the money spent. 

I Will Always

I'm behind on my blog posts so hopefully in the next few days I can get caught up. I have been creating just not posting. :(

Here is a card I did over the last couple of days. Is it sad that it takes me that long to create something. 

 The flower is done on specialty stamping paper by Ranger. First I wet the paper then dabbed Tim Holtz wild honey distress paint and some forest moss distress paint on the paper. Then I took a wet paper towel and swirled it around. After it dried I stamped a Studio 490 Daisy Art flower stamp on it. I cut out just the flower. Then I stamped the stamp on a scrap piece of basic grey green dp so I would have green leaves. I colored accents on the leaves with copic markers. I glued the flower over the leaves and put some yellow stickles in the middle of the flower. The black swirl dp is from basic grey. The swirls stamped on the yellow is from the same stamp set with a couple of black nailhead stickers for accents. There is black and green organza ribbon under the flower. The words are also from the same stamp set. The die cut is from nestabilities. You can barely see but I stamped the words on the yellow card stock with yellow brilliance ink.

This card was lots of fun to make as I used a different technique and not much coloring. Hope you enjoy and are inspired.

Baseball Girl

I was going to make this card for a girl but I didn't get it done in time for her birthday so I sent another one. This one will go into my stash for another time. How often do you  do that? :)

The image is a digi from Saturated Canary here called Spring ball.

She is colored with copics. The glitter paper is from Target as is the baseball. The dp is from bo bunny. The swirls are from Spellbinders Shapeabilities Twisted Metal Tags and Accents. The black dots are nailhead stickers and the gray pearls are from Queen & Co. Then the black organza ribbon bow tops it all off.

Baby Boy

The wife of a lawyer who works in my office had a baby this last week. Of course, that calls for a card. So here it is.

I used this Magnolia baby for the image and colored it with copics. The lace has frosted stickles and the wings star dust stickles and the star crystal stickles. The image is cut out with scalloped nestabilities and edged with sky blue brilliance ink. The star dp is from Basic Grey and the gray is from Bo Bunny. The rocking horse and teddy bear are Daisy Kingdom buttons are years and years old. The flowers and star have blue rhinestones in the middle. And the blue organza bow is tied with a smaller organza ribbon and topped with a star and flower.

Green Edwin

My son-in-law's birthday is on St. Patrick's Day so I try to make him a card with a green theme. This year I used Edwin.

I stamped Edwin on a glitter kraft card stock and then colored him with prisma colored pencils. I The background around him is done with copic markers. The little shamrock was stamped on green paper, cut out and glued on. The punch at the bottom is from Martha Stewart. A gold layer and a green layer and the card was done. Pretty Simple!

Rose

This is one of those sad occasions for a card. I needed a card for the husband of a friend who died recently. I made it a bit bright for cheer because the friend is now in heaven so we shouldn't grieve too much. Of course with her passing we have a hole in our lives.

The image is from Red Rubber Designs and is colored with copics and has stickles on the petals. The dp is from basic grey. A yellow organza ribbon is around the card with half pearls on top. The blue ribbon is iridescent although it doesn't really show in the picture. The butterfly is a paper charm from Amy's Magic and is colored with copics. Here is a close-up.
