Red White and Blue

Love the color combination red, white and blue. Maybe because it is so patriotic or maybe it just is a great combination.  So for the 4th or  just because here is a card perfect for the season.
I was going to have Tilda sit on the lace jar but when I went in this morning after putting diamond glaze on it there was a big crack in it, but I think this worked better. I looked at it after it was put together and thought it needed something else around the edge. I thought of sewing but I had glued the layers down and thought that would gum up my sewing machine. The solution was to put little doodles around a la Danni. Tilda is colored with copics. I almost always make the wings blue but didn't want more blue with the dress so I colored them a pinkish color and really like that. I'll have to try it again.  The stars are from Target's see spot save section. You never know what you will find there. Check it out. Target should pay me extra for advertising. lol. There are red, crystal and gold stickles around the stars like fire works. The paper ribbon is done with a fiskar punch.  The celebrate is from an angel company stamp set. I don't know which one as it got separated from the set. Hope you enjoy her.

Copics used:
skin - E50, E00, E21, E11
checks - R20
wings - E93, R11, R00
hair - YR20, YR31, Y00
dress - B29, B24, B00
dress trim - R45, R35

This card was done for a couple of challenges:
Magnolia Birthday Bash - colors and layout
Magnolia Stamp Lovers - colors

Would love to hear your comments.

Magnolia-licious Christmas All Year Long Blog Hop

Can you believe that it is the 25th of the month already. That means Christmas is 6 months away. It always comes around so fast. That's one thing I like about this blog hop it helps me create some Christmas cards early so I won't stress quite so much later. lol If you have come from Norma's fantastic blog you are on the right track. If you have gotten lost or have come here by accident you might want to start here or go here for a list of all the participants. I'll have to warn you this is going to be a long post. Now on to my card.
First I have to thank Norma for sharing some stamped images of this Tilda with me. I think I will have to ask Diana at here if she can get me this stamp as I love it. I used my white pen to mark out White Christmas and used a sharpie to write in O Holy Night. The lamp post is from the spring or the wedding collection not sure which but I added some white applique to make it snowy and Christmasy. Tilda is colored in copics. I don't know which ones because I made the owl card below at the same time and the colors got all jumbled. The fur on Tilda is polar white flower soft. The boots have diamond glaze on them. The circle behind Tilda is another Magnolia stamp called snowy circle I think. It has stickles on the snowflakes as do Tilda's wings and the light in the lamp post. The green circle was cut with a fiskars circle punch. The snowflakes are from hero arts. The blue around Tilda and the lamp post is a distress ink. The fun part of this card is  that it is made from a paper bag. I'll show you how I did that in just a minute. If you want to go on to the next blog here is the link to Robin's great blog otherwise stay tuned for the tutorial on how to make this card.
First here is the inside.
You could use the bag opening to put in a gift card or a Christmas newsletter. There is a half circle punched out right there so the recipient could see it.
Here is the backside
First lay the lunch bag down with the bottom side up like this
Next take the bottom of the bag and fold up
Now glue that flap down and cut triangles off the sides right where the fold comes up like so
Fold the open end of the bag up to the flap like so
Then fold the flap down and you are ready to start decorating
To make the flap holder cut a piece of paper or ribbon the length of the card and 1" thick. Staple or fasten with brads to just the top layer of the bag - don't go through to both layers or glue it down completely.
Remember to decorate your flap as well.
I do have my directions in word or pdf form also. If you would like a copy of that let me know and I will email it to you. Now if you're still with me I would love to hear your comments.

All Cracked Up

I tried using a digi stamp today and liked it. It was quick and easy and colored fine with copics. This stamp is from Sew Many Cards and is called Ollivia in Egg. It is just perfect for a coworker who recently had an operation. She watched a UStream about an owls hatching. It was on for months from the time the owl laid the eggs until all the owls left the box. Quite interesting and educational. You can tell I watched some too. lol. Anyway Olivia is colored with copics. I had no trouble with my ink smearing. I have a dell printer. Sorry I didn't keep track of  what markers I used as I was doing another project at the same time and the markers got all mixed up. I really should clean up in between projects but I get so excited about the next one that cleaning gets left by the wayside. The egg is covered with diamond glaze. The dp is anglee from the angel company.

Home Sweet Home

I just love these new Victoria Case stamps from Susana's store. They are all just too sweet. You'll want to go right over and check them out. This one is called Home Sweet Home. If you buy the whole set you get the watering can as well. For this card I punched out holes from nestabilities and used the picture window part and then mounted it so it was higher than the design. I had to put lots of flowers at the top because I got glue where it shouldn't have been and needed to hide it. There are no mistakes - just opportunities for creativity. This design is colored with copics. The blue dp is from the angel company and the yellow from bo bunny. There are stickles on her dress and the flower centers. Diamond glaze is all over the watering can. There are little rhinestones for the flower centers.
Copics used:
skin - E11, E00, E50, E21
checks R20
flowers and other red parts - R32, R35
leaves and grass - G07, YG06, G94, YG03
dress - BG05, BG01, BG10
bird house - Y17, Y06, Y02
hair - YR31, E31, E57
watering can - W-7, W-5, W-3, W-1
Hope you enjoyed. I so appreciate the time you take to leave comments.

Spellcaster Tilda

I can't believe it has been a week since I posted something. Well, I have been sick and now I am mowing the lawn. We have a big lawn - 2 days so far by hand. My son does it in a lot less time. I need to get in better shape so I can do it faster. I should finish it up tomorrow if the rains let me.  Back to stamping. I used spellcaster Tilda for this card.
Isn't she a cutie. As I am not into spell casting I thought she would look better with a pinwheel in her hand. I used double sided paper so there wouldn't be a bunch of white showing. There is a swarski crystal in the middle of the pinwheel as well as down the side. Tilda is colored with copics. Stickles are spread all over the apron of the dress. The dp is from K & Company. Tea Leaves chalk ink is dotted around the edge of the nestabilities oval.  Glitter is in the center of the flowers (Got Flowers? by Prisma)
Copics used:
skin - E00, E11, E50, E21
Cheeks - R20
Dress - R32, E93, R11, R00
Dots on dress - YG95
Hair - YR31, E53, E57
Shoes - 100, BV29, BV23, C1
I made this card for the following challenges:
Magnolia Birthday Bash to use lots of bling.
Just Magnolia - to use their card sketch

Hope you enjoy my creation.

True Beauty

A card that uses something other than a Tilda. Amazing I know. I needed to do a sympathy card and somehow I wasn't coming up with one using a Tilda. So I used one of my favorite images from the angel company. A stamp from the set called true beauty. What is more beautiful than a butterfly?

Even the paper and the big eyelets are from the angel company. I love this paper set called Angelee. Everything is colored with copics. The outside edge is colored with a Krylon 18 kt gold leafing pen. As the pen is alcohol based as are the copics I decided to put a little of the gold leaf in the background of the picture and smooth it out with the blending pen. It worked well and I got the desired effect. The butterfly is two layers but the top layer is just glued down in the middle. The top layer is covered with stickles. The words are from an old angel company stamp set called rose sentiment. The edges on the green dp was edged first in tea leaves by versamagic chalk ink and then just a hint of pesto versamagic chalk ink.

copics used
butterfly - BV23, V95, V000
flowers - E93, R11, R00
leaves - G00, G21
butterfly body - BV29

Hope you enjoy.

Tilda with roses

I hadn't had a chance to use this Tilda but thought it high time I did. Not only because I bought it but because there is a challenge to use a Tilda you hadn't used yet.
This Tilda is really from the Christmas collection but can really be used most anytime. The only thing that makes it look a little Christmasy is the holly leaves in the roses. There is pleated organza ribbon behind the image. You can see the directions on how to do this here.http://stampinmindy.blogspot.com/2010/06/fussy-and-fancy-and-guest-designer-for.html The yellow dp is from the oh baby from basic grey. The pink is from bo bunny. The image and the flowers are colored with copics. The little swirl is cut with a sizzix die.  Then it opens as an easel card.
Happy Birthday is from swirly sayings by the angel company.
Copics used:
skin - E00, E21, E50
Cheeks - R20
Roses - RV02, RV23, RV21
Leaves  - G28, G21
Dress - Y00, Y02,Y06, Y17, E21
Hair - E53,YR31, YR20
Background - G00, BG10, B00, R00, V000, 0

This card was made for a couple of challenges:
Magnolia Birthday Bash to use a Magnolia stamp you hadn't used before and make it an easel.
Just Magnolia to make a lace border
I also made it yellow for someone's blog challenge but can't remember where. If I do I'll correct this  and say whose it is.
Hope you enjoy this.

Lazy Days

Susana's store has a new line of Victoria Case stamps for summer and are they ever cute. I just had to try them out - well one just now but there are so many you are just going to flip over them. Check them out here. Here is the card I made using the lazy days stamp.

It looks like a pretty simple card but I spent the longest time trying to figure out how to place the dp. I cut it wrong and then didn't want to cut any more so I played and played trying to get it just the way I wanted it. Don't know if you notice but there are two shades of the blue and two shades of the red (double sided paper). The little girl is colored all in copics. There is a touch of stickles on the flowers, shirt trim and sandals. The red dew drops are from robin's nest and the pearls are from embellashments which can be gotten at Susana's store also. The heart doily is something I got at the see spot save section of Target quite a while ago.
Copics:
skin - E00, E11, E31 (this combo made her skin a little darker than I usually do but I thought she looked like she needed a bit of a tan - but not too much as that can cause skin cancer.)
checks - R20
blouse - R37,  R35, R22, R00
jeans - B91, B95, B97
hair - E77, E57, E31, YR31
hat - Y00, E53, YR20, 0
leaves - G14
flower centers - Y17

Hope you enjoy her.
I made her for a challenge over at follow your heart blog. It is supposed to be an invitation but I didn't really but any invites on this but the optional challenge was for red, white and blue which I did. lol

Longing Tilda

I just don't seem to have time to stamp lately and I am missing it. Last week I had to take my dd to her college orientation - that took over 6 hours out of my time. She is in love with the school and can't wait to go.  Hey and she choose my alma mater so I get to go back and reminiscence. lol This week I had to have jury duty. Fortunately I wasn't picked to be on a jury because that would have taken more time away from my stamping but I have done my civic duty for a while. Yeah!
Here is a card that I have been working on.
I think I started on Memorial Day so that is why the red's and blues are here even though it isn't a patriotic card. Longing Tilda is looking out her castle window. The castle was stamped on a grey/blue sparkly paper and colored with copics. As I started this card days ago I didn't keep track of the colors I used. The window was cut out and a light blue bazzill paper was put behind and Tilda added to the front. As I sit here looking at the card I am wondering if I should have red sparkles on the white paper lace instead of the crystal stickles. What do you think? The words are from an old angel company stamp set. The butterflies are from springtime, a new angel company stamp set. The dew drops are from Robin's Nest.  The dp is from bo bunny.
Please let me know what you think - your comments are so welcome. And if you didn't check out the card below please do so.
Oh this card used the card sketch from the Magnolia Birthday Bash blog here and the Just Magnolia challenge here for hot and spicy cards.
